ideal location

Two years of thorough research, careful study of the Italian law and consideration for the practical elements concerning location, transport, facilities, ease of access and proximity to centres of cultural interest pointed to one specific areas as the most preferable for the location of the centre. Other options remain open and may change with the change of circumstances, the estate market and the development of partnership with other organisations.

We considered environmental concerns and long term developments, we looked at different structural options, and we have identified one specific area as ideal.
A number of suitable properties are currently available for sale, these range from medieval Abbeys to medieval and renaissance hamlets and small villages, all offering interesting and flexible structures, some nearly ready to be used, others with various degrees of refurbishment required.

The prices vary widely, the average combined cost of purchase (including tax and legal expenses) plus the cost of refurbishment and setting up of facilities of the kind of properties we have seen so far ranges from Euro 600.000 to 1.200.000

One of the collateral aims of the centre is to experiment and apply sustainable technologies wherever possible, in view to achieve a total environmentally friendly set up in and around the village and a high degree of energy-independence.

the European context:
the area, indicated by the red star below and enlarged on the right, is strategically located in the heart of Europe and the Mediterranean, with easy access combining practical and symbolic aspects.

Perugia is the centre of this area, from Perugia the motorway connects to both Rome and Florence in around one hour and 45 minutes, the railway has frequent connections both ways. There is a small airport between Perugia and Assisi, with flights to Milan and Rome.
