William Morrison,
International Director
Adam Smith Institute, International Division,
London UK.
This looks to me a very exciting project. I can imagine that it is the sort of setting where ASI could bring groups of senior policy makers for our regular policy making sessions and training workshops. It would also be ideal for the work we anticipate doing with ILO given that they are based in Italy. Finally I would reckon that it’s the sort of quiet and neutral space that would be particularly useful for the work we do in post conflict negotiations with funding for the Scandinavian and British Government. Our programmes with the Palestinian negotiations team in Ramallah and East Jerusalem for example. Do keep me posted on developments, I hope we’ll have a chance to talk some of these opportunities through in London soon.
Regards
William

Registered Charity, London, UK
As an arts consultant and as Coordinator of Creative Exchange I would like express an interest in the development of Art-Tracks. It seems like a useful venture which may provide an inspiring space for practitioners from all fields - including my own field of Culture and Development - to engage and work together. We would certainly be interested in the facility as a possible venue for events and workshops.
Best wishes

In today's world artist colonies are among the most valuable resources for creative people. They not only provide a place for concentrated and intense work, they also have become meeting grounds for artists from a variety of fields, creating incentives in our increasingly interdisciplinary
world.
Good luck with your project. It looks exciting.

Amy Denio,
Composer

'As a musician and composer, I've found that my richest artistic experiences arise from dynamic collaborations - and simply exchanging ideas at the dinner table - with people from other cultures and disciplines.
Art-Tracks will provide an environment where the cross-pollination of ideas can lead to beautiful and visionary interdisciplinary projects. I'd be glad to teach workshops on voice, composition and improvisation, or to develop soundscores in collaboration with modern dance choreographers or theater companies - or simply to compose fresh music, inspired by a fertile and inspiring ambience.'

I look forward to working in Italy with Art-Tracks. It will be useful to have an international forum where I can give writing courses and exchange views with fellow writers and creative people in related areas from around the world. I have written for many international publications -- including the Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times, and the Rotarian, and web sites such as CNBC.COM, Forbes.com and Worth.com. A bucolic location would be an ideal setting to exchange ideas and skills.
I’d welcome the opportunity to present panels and seminars on writing and public relations, such as I have given recently for the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the Editorial Freelancers Association, and the Publicity Club of New York. In addition, I’ve taught at several New York City colleges and universities. Thank you for making me aware of this centre.

The world is not what it was last century or last year and it is essential that we look harder and see farther than before.
That is the genius behind the concept of the IRC, an arts hub at the crossroads of time and culture. While, like the art colonies of old, it is located in a remarkable place, it is also positioned well for the commerce of ideas, where one can find dynamic and uncompromising views of the future.
I look forward to creating there.

In Support of a Great IDEA:
I look forward to working in Italy with Art-Tracks. It will be a centre where I could meet with other photographers and writers, as myself, working around the world on international development issues. I have worked with many groups such as International Planned Parenthood, the UN Development Program and Church World Service and publications including the New York Times and Natural History Magazine. A location away from our rushed urban lives would be an ideal setting for the exchange of ideas and skills.
I think the centre would be an ideal location to present photography workshops such as I have recently given for the New York City Board of Education and the Health and Hospital Workers Union of New York. Thank you for making me aware of this centre.

Thank you so much for sending me email about your new project: I am amazed and delighted by your idea.
While there are certainly many excellent artist colonies and retreat centers already in existence, and several in Italy alone, what strikes me personally is the idea of re-thinking the architectural sociology of the monastery to serve seemingly quite different, but perhaps at core very similar purposes many hundreds of years later.
[...]
I think that the structure of a monastery is uniquely suited to creating a balance between the inspanidual and the communal. it allows for the privacy necessary for contemplation along with the community required for collaboration.
The art-making that interests me most balances the inwardness of mystical inspiration with the intimacy of collaborative engagement. looking over your proposals, it seems likely you will be able to foster the merging of these seemingly antithetical activities at your new center.
I can't wait!
thanks and all best,
Eve

We are all very happy you have found the right place for the centre, it’s been a long time in the making but well worth waiting!
We are excited at the prospect of coming to develop our next recording at art-tracks and would also be interested in taking part in initiatives involving artists from other countries, especially from Eastern Europe, where most of our sources of inspiration come from.
The best of luck from all the members of the Orchestra Svoboda!

I am very impressed after having seen the pictures on the Web. I am happy for you and the others to have found a magical place in such a good and accessible location.
Of course I and certainly many of my artist friends would be more than interested to spend some time there, an artistic retreat of sorts, so please let me know how the project proceeds.
Best of luck!

Poet and novelist, shortlisted for Whitbread Novel Award and Orange Prize, Creative Writing Fellow U.E.A
Thank you for letting me know about the Italian project. The whole thing sounds very interesting and appealing indeed! I think this is exactly the sort of thing that many writers would be keen to support, and many arts organisations would also be interested. I certainly will circulate the information amongst writers and organisations that I know. I’ve taken on a new post as consultant to the National Academy of Writers so will mention it to them, too. It might interest them - Melvyn Bragg is a patron, as are Margaret Atwood and Nick Hornby. I will also mention it to the Royal Literary Fund in my capacity as Fellow.
Best wishes

When I first heard about this project, I was very excited at the prospect of such a centre in Italy, a country I love to visit. I have expressed a desire to be involved financially in some agreed way with this project as I believe in supporting artistic endeavours, especially one like this, which is so well researched and prepared.
My niece Catherine Seymour (Catherine Seymour Company and now Pantechnicon), a contemporary trained dancer, would be interested in contributing some classes in dance and choreography.
I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to my first visit to the centre.

Richard Appignanesi,
writer and editor, Third Text, critical perspectives on contemporary art and culture
London, UK
I am keenly interested in your development of an international centre for arts and performance in Italy which offers prospects for myself personally and my colleagues at Third Text and City University London.
Third Text, I should say, is a long-established, Arts Council funded journal of contemporary arts and culture. It has links with artists and critical theorists throughout the world in a post-colonial perspective that includes Europe, the US, Latin America, Africa and Asia. We envisage your centre as an ideal location for conferences that would bring together practitioners from many cross-cultural disciplines.
The arts policy and management department at City University London recruits postgraduates students in cultural theory from across the world. My colleagues there have expressed interest in utilizing your centre for specialized course modules and seminars.
Please keep me informed on your progress so that we can plan for the future.
Best wishes, Richard |

Erkki-Sven Tüür,
composer, musician
Estonia
I can only wish good luck with all the activities linked with the art-tracks project. The importance of such quiet places where creative people from different areas in the widest cultural sense could co-operate with serious concentration, can not be overestimated. Too many of us are locked into the ghettos so to say because of the lack of the opportunities to share the ideas with each other. No one can force in a form of campaign to make this kind of exchange of ideas happen so that some really worthful result would follow. The time is needed for that purpose, time and right conditions. And for that reason I hope your project will come true.
With best wishes,
Erkki-Sven

Composer, musician, author

Grazie.
All my best
